Q. When is the timing of attachment of the adapters? A power supply of the programmer is ON or OFF?

A. Since procedure changes by the programmer, it is necessary to follow the following procedure.
  • AF9724/25/11
A keyboard and the DIP unit are attached → Power ON → The adapter is attached → The IC device is mounted
  • AG9730/31
A keyboard, the BASE board (if you have), and the adapter are attached → Power ON → The IC device is mounted
  • AF9845 series onto AF9723/23B
A keyboard and the USB interface unit AF9850 (if you have) are attached → AF9845 is attached → Power ON → The adapter is attached → The IC device is mouted
  • AG9860 onto AF9723/23B A keyboard and AG9860 are attached → The adapter is attached → The external power unit is attached → Power ON (AF9723/23B is turned ON first, and then the power unit is turned ON.)→ The IC device is mounted
  • AF9710/09C
A CF card is attached → Power ON → The adapter is attached → The IC device is mounted
  • AF9101/03
A CF card is attached → Power ON → A target board is attached

Notice
The equipment attached during the power supply ON must be removed during the power supply ON, and the equipment attached at the time of the power OFF must be removed when the power supply is OFF.

Q. About how many times can the converter-adapter be used?

A. For the reference number of uses, please refer to the instruction manual* that comes with the converter-adapter.
However, variation according to the usage environment, handling of the adapter, and other elements may cause the programming yield to appear to fall or errors to frequently occur even before the reference number of uses is reached. If these problems occur, clean the socket contacts or replace the converter-adapter. Note: The number stated in the instruction manual is not the guaranteed number of uses.
In addition, if the device is a lead-free product, the IC socket contacts may deteriorate more quickly than for the former products with lead content.
For this reason the actual number of uses may be significantly less than the reference number of uses, so we recommend that you prolong the product's useful life by cleaning it regularly.

Q. Can I install the control software more than once and run programmers for different models at the same time?

A. Although you can install more than one instance of the same control software on one PC, multiple programmers for different models can not be run at the same time. Please connect and run only one programmer per machine.

Q. What operating systems are supported by the control software compatible with?

A. The supported operating systems for the control software and USB driver are as follows.
Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista: 32-bit versions
Windows 7: 32- and 64-bit versions
Note: Applicable models: AF9101/03, AF9709C, AF9710, AF9850, AG9860, AG9730, AF9724/25

Q. Why do the TE(F)003-44SP-01* and TE(F)003-48TS-03* series adapters have various differences in the ending letters?

A. Due to differences in the control of various extended functions (protected mode, acceleration mode, etc.) for the device and in the upper address position, certain wire connections are different.
The ending letters of the adapter's model number are used to distinguish the models according to their connection.
The Flash Support Group posts information to the list of devices and supplies algorithm software and conversion adapters through the company's official development and evaluation.
After checking the ending letters in the device list, use the standard compatible product.

Q. What is the difference between AF9836 and AF9836B?

A. They have different sizes of buffer memory.
AF9836 RAM : 256M bit (Discontinued on April, 2002)
AF9836B RAM : 1G bit (The existing model)
*AF9723 can support versions of H/W-Rev.R01 or later

Q. What is the difference between AF9709 and AF9709B?

A. They have different sizes of buffer memory.
AF9709 RAM : 64M bit (Discontinued on April, 2002)
AF9709B RAM : 256M bit (The existing model)

Q. Can CF cards sold commercially substitute for the compact flash cards used in AF9710 and AF9850?

A. No.
The compact flash cards used in AF9710 and AF9850 are specially formatted for the products. They cannot be substituted by the CF cards sold in the market.

Q. When AF9850 (USB interface unit) is installed to AF9723, is it possible to install AF9835(B) Ethernet unit to have both LAN and USB interfaces?

A. No.
AF9850 is an optional unit installed in the first slot (upper slot) of the AF9723 optional interface. Since AF9835(B) is also designed to install in the first slot, a combination of AF9835(B) and AF9850 is not possible.

Q. When AF9850 (USB interface unit) is installed to AF9723, does it support memory size up to 2G bit without AF9836B?

A. Yes.
By itself AF9850 supports memory size up to 2G bit.
To add more memory size, the optional CF cards are available to support memory size up to 8G bit.

Optional CF memory cards
4G bit : TECFM-4G-10
8G bit : TECFM-8G-10
